About this work

View of the interior of the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam, around 1695. Possibly during the annual commemoration of the inauguration which took place on 2 August 1675. In the center, on the east-facing teba, the chazan. Above in the middle, clouds with the Amsterdam Maiden and the personification of Judaism or the Old Testament. Between them, a Torah scroll with a decorative tower and the coat of arms of Amsterdam. Above that, a scroll with the title in Dutch and Spanish.
