View of the gate of the Amsterdam Schouwburg, which burned down in 1772, on the Keizersgracht. This city theater was designed by Jacob van Campen and was built on the site of the Nederduitse Academie of Samuel Coster (at the location of the current Keizersgracht 384). The opening was on December 26, 1637. In 1665, the building was extensively renovated, and in 1772 it burned down. In the background, the bridge between the Huidenstraat and the Runstraat.
