Celestial map of the southern constellations, according to the traditional arrangement of Ptolemy and his successors. Top left, a representation of the surface of the sun; top right, of the moon. Around the map, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are visible. Bottom left, an image of the solar eclipse of May 12, 1706. Below, tables with notes on distances and locations of stars and planets.
