About this work

Overview of the siege of the city of Haarlem with the surrounding area in bird's-eye perspective. In the foreground left Spanish officers at a Spanish army tent. In the midst of them stands Don Frederik with a letter in his hand in which the Haarlem population is asked to surrender to the Spaniards. On the right the House at Kleef, the residence of Don Frederik. Behind the army camps troops are marching towards Haarlem. At the top a cloth with the coat of arms of Haarlem and the legend 1-11 in Dutch.
