About this work

Christ nailed to the cross. Mary lies fainting at the foot of the cross, supported by the holy women. John the Baptist is depicted to the right of the cross. The skull at the foot of the cross indicates not only Golgotha, the Place of the Skull, but also represents Adam's skull.
