About this work
Saint Teresa kneels before Christ as intercessor for souls in purgatory. She points to the men and women in the fire who look up pleadingly from below. According to the inscription, Teresa acts on the intercession of the soul of Bernardino de Mendoza. A biblical text is also quoted: 2 Maccabees 12.
