About this work

David kneels to the right and raises both arms to the heavens. In the right corner, rays descend from the heavens. Next to him lie the sling and shield. Behind him the outlines of the Israelite army camp. David has probably just defeated Goliath and now thanks God for his protection (1 Samuel 17: 41-51). Print from a series after various drawings by Parmigianino from the Arundel collection.
