Saint Patrick

St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland and Irish missionary from the early Middle Ages. He wears his official vestments as first bishop of Ireland. He has in his hands a book and a bishop's staff. An angel to the right uses the end of this staff to drive away snakes. Also St. Patrick himself crushes a snake with his foot. According to legend St. Patrick was responsible for banishing all snakes from Ireland. On a table to his left lies his mitre. Under the table a hellhound hides. The print has a Latin inscription and a dedication.
