About this work

St. Ignatius of Loyola was the founder of the order of the Jesuits. He wears a priest's habit and stands before an altar. He holds a book open with his left hand. He has a halo around his head. On the open page of the book stands the motto of the Jesuits: 'Ad maiorem dei gloriam'.
