About this work
In a landscape with remains of Roman ruins, Saint Jerome kneels on the ground and strikes himself with a stone. His mantle and cardinal's hat lie on a stone wall. He leans on a skull. The lion, his symbol, lies at the top of a low step and licks its paws.
