About this work
A man sits at a table indulging in food and drink. Around him the five senses as female personifications. Touch (with a bird biting her hand) sits on his lap and embraces him. Smell (with the dog beside her) holds a bouquet of flowers to his nose and crowns him with a laurel wreath. Taste (with the monkey in a tree above her) offers him a cup of wine and a basket of fruit. Hearing (with the stag) plays a lute and sits on a tree stump. Sight (with the eagle) holds up a mirror. The print has a Latin inscription.
