About this work
Smoking and drinking company of gentlemen around a table in a room. In the middle of the table a bowl with punch. The gentlemen (merchants, lawyers, physicians and ministers) are in different stages of drunkenness. In the foreground a man falls to the ground; he is poured over with drink. The print has a French title and subtitle. The title describes the print. The subtitle is written in rhyme and mocks the British love for drink and tobacco.
