About this work
The dead Abel lies on the ground. Eve sits next to her son and strokes his head. At his feet are two mourning women. Adam sits next to the dead body, seen from the back. On the right a lion tearing a lamb. On the left a burning altar. In the background, in a hilly landscape, Cain flees, who is being punished by God the Father sitting in a cloud.
