About this work
The one-eyed giant Polyphemus is in love with the sea nymph Galatea and plays the pan flute for her. Galatea rides over the waves in her dolphin-drawn heart shell. Tritons and nereids play around her in the water. Floating above Galatea's head is a billowing cloth. This cloth is an attribute of Aura, the spirit of the wind. Also, the putti floating in the air blow air out.
