About this work

In the center, a portrait bust of the Roman poet Horatius on a pedestal. The sculpture is crowned with a laurel wreath by Fame, who blows her trumpet. To the right, an allegorical figure with painting supplies in her hands. Her headgear is decorated with a laurel wreath and a sphinx as a symbol of wisdom. To the left, an allegorical figure with an instrument in her hand.
