About this work

Pope Stephen I touches the eyes of H. Lucilla of Rome. According to legend, Lucilla, who was born blind, could see again after she and her father, tribune Nemesio, were baptized by H. Valentine of Rome. Nemesio had requested and obtained permission from Pope Stephen I for the baptism. In the background, her later beheading.
