About this work

Tempted by the idea that it will make her more beautiful, Psyche opens the jar filled with the beauty of Proserpina, goddess of the underworld. To the right, Amor escapes from the window of the palace where Venus had locked him up. On the left, the fallen Psyche awakens, after which Amor will take her away. Italian text in two cartouches in the lower margin. Numbered twice in the lower left: 28.
