About this work
The body of Christ is carried by three men, including Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, to his open tomb. Behind them, Mary mourns with two women. In the front, a woman kneels with folded hands, Mary Magdalene(?). In the front left, the instruments of the Passion lie on the ground. In the distance, the three crosses on a rock. Below the scene, an eight-line Latin text and below that, an inscription, also in Latin. In the center below, the coat of arms of Cardinal Borromeo.
