About this work

The knights Ubaldo and Carlo stand before a cave with the magician who offers them a shield, a sword, and a map. Behind them, a woman in a rowing boat. In the background, the knights arrive on the island of Armida, where they fight wild animals. Italian verses by Tasso in two columns in the lower margin.
