About this work

The hero Horatius Cocles standing full-length, a sword raised in his right hand, a shield in his left hand. In the background it can be seen how he takes on an entire army alone on the bank of the Tiber. Below the image two couplets of two lines in Latin. This print is part of a series of ten prints, consisting of an unnumbered title print, eight numbered depictions of heroes and an unnumbered concluding print.
