The Martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew

Bartholomew is flayed by Indians. Some of the depicted Indians wear feather headdresses and thus appear more like the original inhabitants of America. To the left of the scene of his martyrdom he is depicted again, holding a knife. Below the image: two lines of Latin twice. This print is part of a series of thirteen prints of Christ (unnumbered) and the apostles (numbered), more specifically of the tortures they endured.
