About this work

St. Jerome seated in a church vault. He is half-naked but still wears his cardinal's vestments. His cardinal's hat lies next to him on a bench. He is writing and his working instruments (inkpot, books, pen) are also depicted. The lion he once helped, his personal attribute, lies next to him. The print bears an inscription with Jerome's name and a Latin legend. The series concerns the four Church Fathers.
