About this work
Two women at a set table, one of whom is reading a paper. Left: 'toilette' of brown wool and striped fabric in blue and beige, brown velvet. Bodice with overlap on a vest of brown velvet. Lapels and cuffs of striped wool. On the left, a large bow of velvet ribbon. Right: 'toilette' of blue-grey plain cashmere, black 'soutache', and silk. At the neck, a silver brooch. Below the image, several lines of advertising text for various products. Print from the fashion magazine *Revue de la Mode* (1872–1913).
