About this work

Two women by a pond, in gowns by Lesueur. Left: gown of ecru batiste embroidered with red silk, decorated with bows and a red sash. On the hip a small purse ('ridicule') of red silk embroidered with batiste. In the right hand a walking stick, which can also be used as a parasol. Right: gown of woolen mousseline or blue-gray fabric trimmed with striped fabric. According to the caption: 'toilettes' by Lesueur. Below, several lines of advertising text for various products.
