About this work
Allegory on the elevation of William IV to hereditary stadtholder in May 1747. The Dutch Lion with sword, lance, and liberty cap, watching over in the Dutch Garden by the orange tree illuminated by divine light. In a frame with the coats of arms of the seven provinces and portrait medallions of Prince William IV and his wife Anna, and the earlier Princes of Orange. Below the print on the sheet is a poem in two columns signed G.F.
