About this work
Battle scene between the warlike half-naked Amazons and male soldiers with helmets. In the center stands Theseus (or Achilles?) with a dead horse between his legs and a dead Amazon in his arms. The scene is flanked by two Amazons with trophies in their hands. Below the image an inscription in Latin. After a Roman sarcophagus in the Vatican Museums.
