Belgian Woman in Domestic Attire

Woman from Flanders turned to the left, in domestic dress. The hair is combed tightly back from the face and largely covered with a cap with a finely pleated turned-back brim trimmed with lace. It seems as if above the right temple a forehead pin with pendant sticks out forward. A pleated cambric cloth with narrow raised edge and trimmed all around with a scalloped strip, covers the bodice or jacket almost entirely. Only the skirt, which consists of various panels, is visible from the waist to the hip. A spacious, ankle-length skirt is decorated above the hem with a number of horizontal bands. Long pleated apron, trimmed all around with a scalloped strip. Decorated slippers with block heel.
