About this work

Woman from Mainz, in profile to the right, wearing a cap on the back of the head with a very wide bonnet edge that encloses the face. Wide, thick pleated collar with the shirt collar visible around the neck. Tight hip-length jacket with a flat collar at the back, bragoenen, long sleeves and a front panel consisting of several loose pieces. Turned-back cuffs trimmed with a scalloped edge (lace?). Foot-length, loose skirt above the hem decorated with several horizontal bands. Long white apron starting at the waist under the jacket. Shoes with medium-high heels. In the left hand gloves with caps trimmed with a gathered strip.
