About this work
In the foreground Christ sits on the cross, while soldiers are busy with preparations for the crucifixion. In the front right two gamble and fight over Christ's clothing. In the background the crucified Christ between the crucified good and bad thieves. At the foot of the cross many people, among them John the Evangelist and the three Marys. A rider thrusts a lance into Christ's side. This print is part of a series of twelve prints with scenes from the Passion.
