About this work

Mary and Joseph are united in marriage by a high priest, in the presence of a number of men (left) and women (right). In the background it can be seen how Joseph was chosen to marry Mary: of all the rods that were brought to the temple by suitors, his was the only one that bore blossoms. This print is part of a series of twelve prints with scenes from the Life of Mary.
