About this work

Herod sits on a throne, while many little boys are murdered by soldiers around him. A woman begs Herod for mercy. In the background it can be seen how Joseph and Mary flee with the Christ child to Egypt. This print is part of a series of twelve prints with scenes from the Life of Mary.
