Allegorical representation on the occasion of the marriage of David Leeuw van Lennep and Hester Barnaart in Haarlem on 25 May 1723. The husband is brought by Hymen to the marriage bed, where she lightly repels him. Juno, as protector of women, and Venus, as goddess of love, sit above on a cloud. The representation is set in an ornamental frame. Below the river gods of the IJ and the Spaarne. Merchandise, ships and the trade god Mercury represent the occupations of the couple as merchants. Below the representation the motto: Ira cedit, favet dum hymen amori. Top right numbered: 2.
