About this work
A naked woman breastfeeds her baby at a rock. On the left in the background an old man is seen crawling naked on hands and knees over the ground. Further in the background a town or castle. This depicts the legend of John Chrysostom. This desert hermit did penance for the murder of a young woman he had impregnated, by not speaking and not looking up to the sky, until a child of seven days old would have forgiven him. The baby of a queen spoke that forgiveness, upon which the murdered woman was found alive with her child.
