On the left Mariane is caught in the garden pavilion with her mistress's nephew, Frau von Hohenauf. On the right Sebaldus Nothanker speaks with his rival Stauzius and the major about the amount with which the son of Stauzius wants to buy out his military service. Numbered p. 227 and p. 153.
