About this work
Left: John Buncle is in conversation with Miss Spence in a spa town in Harrogate. They are disturbed by a group of John Buncle's Irish friends. Among them is Mr. Mackins who is only four feet tall. Right: a scene from the life story of Alvarez Douror. In search of Belvidera Dellon, his abducted fiancée, he ends up in a house with an enchanted garden where he collapses on a bench. Servants bring him inside and when he regains consciousness he looks into the eyes of his beloved. Numbered: No. 8 and No. 14.
