About this work
In front of a man on a throne sits John the Evangelist with hands folded in a cauldron standing on a fire. A man holds the fire high with a bellows, another man pours boiling oil over John with a large ladle. Many bystanders watch. On the verso Latin Bible text in Gothic script in two columns.
