Left: a scene based on the poem 'Der kluge Einfall des Bedienten. Eine Geschichte'. On a journey Herr Dombardey sends his servant Johan home to tell his wife that during his absence she is not to associate with Herr Schmetterling. Knowing that women always go against their husband's wishes, Johan tells her that she is not to ride Caro, the dog. In this scene Liese, the maid, helps Frau Dombardey back up after she has fallen off Caro the dog. Right: a scene based on the poem 'Die Falle'. Kunz suspects that his wife Gretchen is meeting with Konrad during his absence. To catch them he saws through the plank lying over the ditch. Numbered: 143, 198.
