About this work
Portrait of Diederick Snyder, leader of a group of twelve Anabaptists who walked naked through Amsterdam in 1535, praying and proclaiming doom. He wears armor and holds a halberd. His other hand rests on a book with ribbons. In the background it is depicted how the men and women run screaming and naked through the streets.
