About this work
Leucothea, the daughter of the Babylonian king Orchamos, is seduced by Apollo, in the guise of her mother. When the king hears this, he has his daughter buried alive. In the background, she is turned by Apollo into a frankincense bush. In the margin, a four-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin.
