About this work

Cadmus and Harmonia depart from their own city of Thebes to Illyria. In the forests around Illyria, Cadmus eventually decided to ask the gods to turn him into a snake, whereupon Harmonia made the same request. In the margin, a four-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin.
