About this work
To avenge the murder of her son, Hecuba gouges out the eyes of the Thracian Polymestor. On the left in the background, Polyxena, the daughter of Hecuba, is sacrificed by Neoptolemus. On the right in the background, Hecuba finds the corpse of her son Polydorus, washed up on the shore. In the margin, a four-line inscription in two columns, in Latin.
