About this work
Venus sprinkles her son Aeneas with ambrosia and thus makes him the god Indiges. On the right in the background, Cybele on her lion-drawn chariot, causing the ships of Aeneas, which had been set on fire by Turnus, to turn into water nymphs. In the margin, a four-line inscription in two columns, in Latin.
