About this work

A beggar limps, leaning on his crutches, to the left. With his right hand he holds up his hat. The print is part of a series of twenty-six prints of beggars and peasants. Some figures in this series are also designated as 'cripples', which in the 17th century was a generic term for people with physical disabilities.
