About this work
The youngest son of a man demanded his inheritance and then squandered it abroad. Destitute, he returned home and begged his father’s forgiveness. The joyful father organized a festive meal to celebrate the fact that his son had seen the error of his ways. Rembrandt depicts the moment he lovingly receives his son and has fine clothes brought to him.
