Hendrik Danielsz. Hooft, burgomaster of Amsterdam, seated in a chair holding a roll of paper. He wears a wig and a wide falling band. In the margin two columns of text with between them a coat of arms crowned with a laurel wreath, under which two fasces, a liberty cap and a shield.
