About this work
The contents in the drawer of the falling nightstand and the dog at the feet of the woman indicate wavering chastity and morality. On the painting next to the canopy Cupid lights a rocket to illustrate what is to come. The woman seems to push the man away but has already removed her corset, which lies on the chair at the foot of the bed.
