About this work
The body of Christ is carried by Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea to the tomb. The other figures around the grave mourn. On the left, John the Evangelist comforts Mary. In the background to the right, Mount Golgotha with the two thieves on the crosses. In the margin, an eight-line inscription in Latin.
