Entry of the Lords of Couvonge and Chalabre

To the right the gentlemen of Couvonge and Chalabre, dressed as Minos and Rhadamanthys, brothers and judges in the underworld. Before them a fire-breathing dragon, Furies and the three-headed hellhound Cerberus. Above the scene an inscription in French. This print is part of a series of illustrations for a book about the festivities (including a tournament) in the ducal palace in Nancy on 14 February 1627. This specific print, however, was never included in that book, due to incorrect dimensions; for this Callot made a new version of the correct size.
