About this work

To the top right the Prince of Phalsbourg, dressed as a military leader (Mars?), standing on a triumphal chariot. Before this carriage musicians and torchbearers walk. Bottom left a triumphal chariot with lute players, drawn by Fame. Bottom right a carriage from which various classical gods emerge (including Apollo, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury). Above the scene an inscription in French. This print is part of a series of illustrations for a book about the festivities (including a tournament) in the ducal palace in Nancy on 14 February 1627.
