About this work

To the right Henry of Lorraine, dressed as a Roman warrior, standing on a salamander drawn by a swan. To the left a group of musicians on the back of a phoenix. Below three triumphal chariots, one with Perseverance drawn by Time, one with Constancy drawn by a dragon and one with Fidelity drawn by two dogs. Above the scene an inscription in French. This print is part of a series of illustrations for a book about the festivities (including a tournament) in the ducal palace in Nancy on 14 February 1627.
